We’ve seen the facehuggers in a previous trailer for Alien: Romulus. But in the final one released today, we get a heck of a lot more of them and their slimy, probing appendages.
If you’re looking for more terror than a facehugger implanting baby aliens down someone’s esophagus, you’re in luck! The latest trailer also teases that the space station and its doomed crew are on a collision course, which confirms that things aren’t going to go so well for anyone we see on screen.
The film, which is produced by Ridley Scott, comes to us from Evil Dead (2013) and Don’t Breathe director Fede Álvarez and is based on a script he wrote with his regular collaborator, Rodo Sayagues. Romulus takes place between the events of Alien and Aliens and only has this ominous tagline to shed light on what the movie’s about: “While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
The film stars several actors (most of whom play characters who will die horrible, horrible deaths) including Cailee Spaeny (Civil War), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu.
Alien: Romulus premieres in theaters on August 16, 2024. You can buy your tickets now, if you’re so inclined.
